Rossiyskaya gazeta: Markin: Khoroshavin to be accused of more than 10 crimes
Markin: Khoroshavin will be charged with more counts of corruption
According to TASS (the Russian News Agency), the official spokesperson of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said on Vesti FM broadcast that the Committee is going to accuse the former Governor of Sakhalin Region Aleksandr Khoroshavin of more than 10 bribery crimes.
Markin reminded that the Committee earlier addressed everyone who had suffered from the Governor’s actions to report it to the investigators.
“He thought that no contract involving state funds could go without a kickback for him”, Markin said. “No businessman in Sakhalin could run a state-funded business without giving or at least promising a certain sum of money to Khoroshavin. Otherwise they could actually go bankrupt.”
Ex-Governor is now under arrest. The investigators accused him of taking a bribe of 5.6 million US dollars for a contract for construction of a power generating unit of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Heat and Power Station-1. In June, Khoroshavin was involved into a second criminal case over a bribe of more than 15 million rubles.
